Welcome to the team – Luke Daley

I’m excited to start my journey with the Parents’ Voice and use my experience as a Public Health Nutritionist and day to day life as Dad to represent our Parent members and guide our communications.  Previously I have been working in Life! team at Diabetes Victoria for 3 years training our health facilitators and working in CALD and Aboriginal communities and met some amazing health professionals along the way.

Moving to Parents’ Voice to represent parents is a passion that goes beyond work and is definitely a part of my every life. This role will enable me to use my Public Health Nutrition background and health promotion expertise to improve our food and physical activity environment for little ones.

Background Info

Originally brought up as a sweet loving, tropical fruit juice fanatic and exercise enthusiast that couldn’t sit down for 5mins.  I have been exposed to the world of nutrition and healthy eating during my degree years, which vastly changed my outlook on the food environment and also sedentary behaviour.

Originally born and bred in Leicester (UK) I started my career working for the NHS as a Public Health Nutritionist working with communities that had high crime, deprivation and obesity rates.  Working on some amazing ground breaking projects involving the ‘Change4life’ campaign and working with some of Jamie Olivers food revolution schools in Nottinghamshire I really found my feet and skills as an ambassador for improving food environments.

A free holiday in 2011 brought me board a Mediterranean cruise ship, in which I met my future wife Carly, which ended up landing me in Australia and straight into tackling Australia’s health issues through Diabetes Victoria and setting up my own school & community nutrition business Daley Nutrition.

Favourite Food

Nowadays I am a bit of a protein enthusiast and spend a lot of the time in and around the gym, I am a big fan of kangaroo burgers and sweet potato wedges and can whip a good side salad to go with it.

My Passion

As the Dad to a 2-year-old ball of delight and wonder, I am keen to improve our food and physical activity environment for my own daughter and other children, I am keen to represent Dads in Australia to stand and have a voice as fathers play a very keen role in the development of our children behaviour and habits, especially involving food and physical activity.

I am pleased to work Alice Pryor (Campaigns Manager and Mum) as my manager/mentor along this journey, this role is set to be a good challenge.
